Functionality Notes

When you submit an entry with a future date and the status “Open” and any Ping Servers are checked or any Trackback URLs have been entered, it is added to an internal queue.

This queue is regularly checked while someone is logged into the Control Panel. Once an entry in the queue reaches a present date the pings / trackbacks are sent.

If you would like the queue check to happen all the time without the need of anyone working on the site you can use the plugin included in this release.

Usage

This extension works completely in the background so there is really nothing special for you to do. When writing an entry for a future date, just check the Sites To Ping as usual and enter Trackback URLs if you like.

You may go to CP Home ›  Admin ›  Utilities ›  Extensions Manager  › Postponed Pings & Trackbacks and click the Settings-link to take a peek at the jobs currently queued.

Queue Check Plugin

Upload the plugin as outlined in Installation Step 5.

Now you can put the Tag {exp:postponed_check} into any public template you see fit and everytime someone accesses that template by browsing your site the Postponed queue will be checked.
